Program Note

Imageries is a set of character pieces exploring some of the sonic and expressive capabilities of the cello. Composed for David Russell, they depict elements of the natural world; the vast majesty of the sea, the violence and devastation of wildfires, and the peaceful tranquility of night. I hope the piece will encourage listeners to reflect on the beauty of the world around them and act to protect it in the midst of climate change.
