Sakurako Kanemitsu (piano) premieres my new work, snow day, along with works by fellow Berklee faculty composers. The piece is a meditation on the incremental escalation of blizzards, which begin with just a few snow flakes.

Nine years after its premiere, the Red Velvet Violin - a concert-length symphonic puppet show for children inspired by Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf - receives another round of performances at Davis High. The concert will feature Angelo Moreno as conductor, puppet theatrics by Puppet Art Theater Co, story by Anna Moreno, and narration by soprano Ann Moss. A multimedia work about love, generosity, magic, and the power of music perfect for all ages.

Pianist Sakurako Kanemitsu performs The Floating Island II, a piece inspired by the novel Life of Pi, at Longy's Divergent Studios festival of contemporary music. Soprano Rose Hegele and Sakurako Kanemitsu give the world premiere of my latest art song, july midnight, in Vermont in July but not at midnight. It's a very Vermont-piece about nighttime and nature and the gentle wonder that it offers us, based on a text from New England poet Amy Lowell. They will also perform several other piano solos and art songs.
